Home Design

Our clients come with various levels of design knowledge. We feel we have really perfected the process of sitting down with our clients and capturing their vision. Our clients come with ideas in their head, pictures from numerous plans, Houzz renderings, Pinterest ideas, and a wide range of lifestyle desires. Doug has spent over 20 years honing in the art of designing floorplans. We partner with only the best architects in the Treasure Valley and even have an interior designer on staff available to all clients. When it comes to the design of your home, you will not be disappointed in the service you receive from the Legacy team.

Specifications

Have you ever heard that building a custom home can be a nightmare? With over 20 years experience in the building industry, we have learned that the upfront planning of the details is what makes a build experience go smoothly. We will work with you to ensure your expectations of quality are included in the specification sheet, from the pouring of your foundation, to the R-Value of the insulation, to the details of the millwork that will encase your doors and windows. Getting a perfect plan and a detailed specification sheet allows us to work from the same page with our clients.

Bid and Cost Sheet

Once we have a perfect plan and a detailed specification sheet, we then can go out to bid. We strive to use the best subcontractors in the Treasure Valley to complete our work. One of the advantages of getting us involved at the design stage is that we will always have your budget in mind as we are designing and specifying your home.

Contract

At this stage we have a final plan, detailed specification sheet and a bid and cost breakdown of how much the project will cost. We have a simple contract with our clients that details the plan, specification, price and basic ground rules moving forward.

Construction Communication

We like to schedule on site visits with our clients on a weekly basis.  This allows us to ensure with you that we are constructing the home per the plans and specifications.  This also allows us to adapt and make any changes you may want to make in order to customize the home to exactly what you want.  We also have a monthly accounting meetings to authorize the construction draws and to discuss any desired changes and the accompanying costs.  We believe that communication is the key to a great experience.

Final Interview

Because every detail of your new home is important, we conduct a final walk through before you move in, to make sure every detail is completed to your satisfaction.

Warranty

We provide a 1 year warranty on all our work. This allows your new home to make it through all 4 seasons of the year. We stand behind our work!

DOUG ATWOOD

Owner

Hello, my name is Doug Atwood with Legacy Homes of Idaho. I have had the opportunity to be in the construction industry all my life. In my early days in the industry, I had the chance to work as a subcontractor in several different trades.


The lifelong experiences I have had managing construction crews gives me a comparative advantage as I select subcontractors to complete the quality craftsmanship I expect in my homes.


My goal is to establish a personal relationship with my customers to help them through the various stages of building a home, starting with the design, to the acquisition of a suitable lot, and on through the construction and completion of their dream home.

NATE SAMPSON

Owner

Hi, my name is Nate Sampson with Legacy Homes of Idaho. I run the operations side of the business so Doug can focus his undivided attention on ensuring the quality of our homes. I have worked in many areas of the construction industry throughout my life.


Prior to partnering with Doug, I had the opportunity to work as a Congressional Aide on Capitol Hill and as a Bush Presidential Appointee at the U.S. General Services Administration, the real estate arm of the federal government. While in Washington D.C., I completed a master’s degree in Real Estate Development from Johns Hopkins University. When I saw the quality of Doug’s work I decided to offer my services to Legacy Homes.
